Here it is!

One of the most anticipated on-screen couples finally came together. This time in a photo shoot, rather than the movie. Its widely reported that Allu Arjun and Tamanna are going to be paired in the big-budget blockbuster ‘Badrinath.’ This is Arjun’s next movie after Arya 2, V.V Vinayak’s fresh from ‘Adurs’ success and Geetha Arts’ after ‘Jalsa,’ ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Magadheera.’ In this issue, which is Valentine’s Day special, the young actors talk about love, romance & marriage. The cover was shot by renowned photographer Avinash Gowarikar (brother of Ashutosh Gowarikar).

It was shot on location at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai. The styling was done by Nischay Polavarapu. This issue of Southscope is packed with many other specials covering style & fashion, a tribute to Vishnuvardhan, upcoming movies and others. Kamakshi Kalaa Movies, the production house that is currently busy with King Nagarjuna’s ‘Kedi’ will be soon making another big film with Naga Chaitanya. Film launch is scheduled in March.

Kajal Agarwal will be pairing with Naga Chaitanya in the film. It will be directed by a debutant, Ajay Bhuyas.

Ram Gopal Varma, one of the ace directors of the Indian Cinema, is known for his unique style of presentation. He has been entertaining people with a greater variety in his films, especially the films with his underworld insights. Now, he is coming up with a completely now genre, focusing on the untouched area – ‘The Media.’ His upcoming film ‘RANN,’ slated for release on Friday targets media. Having the strongest star cast like Amitabh Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Gul Panag and Paresh Rawal, expectations on the film are building very high at box office.

Amitabh Bachan said that the film highlights the conflicts that arise between a person’s business sensibilities and his conscience, and how he compromises on his conscience for the survival of his business or vice-versa.

Adding to this Ram Gopal Varma said “It is not about media bashing at all. I’ve always said that the media exposes, and now I am exposing media. Now it is not necessarily about the bad things – I may be talking about the media’s vulnerabilities, their compulsions and their greed – after all every human being is susceptible to situations and pressures and his own emotions.”

Renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded the Akkineni Award for the year 2009. Akkineni Nageswara Rao himself announced her name in the press meet held on Monday. Speaking to the media Nageswara Rao said “Through our Akkineni International Foundation we felicitate those who provide best services to the Indian Cinema. And for the year 2009, we had selected Lata Mangeshkar.

The award will be presented in a function a special occasion on February 1. We are very happy to honour Lataji, one of the best-known playback singers in the Hindi film industry. The 56th National Film Awards are announced today (Saturday). Bengali film ‘Antaheen’ directed Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury won the Best Film award. Tamil director Bala bagged the Best Director Award for his film ‘Naan Kadavul.’

Marati actor Upendra Limaye won the Best Actor Award for his role in the film ‘Jogwa’ (Marati). Dibakar Banerjee ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ (Hindi) won the Best Popular Film Award.

Bollywood actress and Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra bagged the Best Actress Award for her role in ‘Fashion’ directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. Kangana Ranaut, who played the role of a troubled model in the same film, won the Best Supporting Actress Award.

It is already known that Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts Banner is producing the mega film ‘Badrinath’ with Allu Arjun in the direction of sensational director V V Vinayak. It was in talks earlier that Hansika Motwani was considered for the heroine. But the latest buzz is that milky white beauty Tamanna has been selected to play the role.

This would be her straight film in Telugu after ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam.’ The actress has been performing exceeding well in Tamil in the recent past and kept herself busy there. Now, this would be a better opportunity for her to reach mass audience in T-Town.

Ram Charan’s Magadheera, one of the biggest hits in the history of South Cinema has completed the 175-day run. The film directed by S S Raja Mouli and produced by Allu Aravind under prestigious Geetha Arts Banner, has grossed about Rs 110 crore so far. It holds the record of completing 50-day run in 302 centres and 100-day run in 225 centres.

It has now completed the successful 175-day run in three centers – Ceded (Adoni), Vizag and PVR Cinemas (Bangalore). The movie is still running with decent crowds in few centers.

It is already known that Allari Naresh and Vamsi are teaming up for a complete comedy entertainer. M L Kumar Chowdary is producing the film under Sri Keerthi Creations banner. The title ‘Cheap and Best’ is said to be in consideration for the film. Heroine is yet to be finalized. Chakri is scoring music.

Film launch is expected in February and the regular shooting will commence from March. Other details of the film are yet to be known.
